Who is Laura Furniss-Roe?
Laura is an English-born, Globally-raised film student aspiring to make you feel something.
A Sophomore majoring in Film & Television Production at the world-renowned University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, Laura is an aspiring director & creator growing alongside her friends & peers into the modern-day film industry. More than anything, though, she still believes in the power of film to move, persuade, educate, & elevate.
Laura began creating film from the moment she was old enough to pick up a camera. During her early Teens she devoted time to making content for local organizations such as Branches, Zoo Miami, & her high school, Palmer Trinity. As time went by, she began to take filmmaking & storytelling more seriously, turning away from Homecoming Recaps & Club Promotions to short narrative films & short-form YouTube pieces.
Throughout her middle & high school years, Laura also dedicated a lot of her time to the world of theater. Not only did she love to perform, but she also discovered that she loved the technical side of things just as much, if not more. By the time she graduated, she had performed in over 15+ shows & directed two large-scale musicals & numerous smaller pieces.
Born in the UK & raised by a combination of the lush British Countryside, intimidating Grey Skies of Moscow, windy Beaches of Bermuda & Tropical colors of Miami, she has been influenced by all corners of the world.
Currently based in LA as she works towards her Bachelor of Fine Arts, she enjoys spending her free time experimenting with her guitars, perfecting bow & arrow bullseyes, mastering Mario Kart courses on top speed, & caring for her amputee cat “Tux" With a titanium-coated spine & genetic relentlessness - Nothing will get in the way of her pursuit of the life, happiness & a great story well told.
